Hyundai is getting into the World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the Genesis GMR-001 Hypercar.
Genesis’ new Le Mans hypercar marketing campaign shall be spearheaded by the Genesis Magma Racing group with Cyril Abiteboul as group principal, whereas ex-Audi driver Andre Lotterer and Luis ‘Pipo’ Derani have been named as the event and racing drivers.
Coming to the automotive itself, the GMR-001 Hypercar shall be constructed to LMDh specs and can race within the prime class of IMSA and WEC. Genesis has launched photos of the prototype. It’s primarily based on an Oreca chassis.
Whereas the GMR-001 Hypercar seems to be like a typical Le Mans prototype, it has just a few distinctive design particulars, resembling stacked headlights with signature LED lighting on the entrance and twin LED strips on the again.
