Scott Speed’s wild Subaru WRX Project Midnight coming to Goodwood

Subaru Motorsports USA has constructed a brand new Time Assault automobile that may participate within the Goodwood Hill Climb later this weekend. Dubbed, ‘WRX Challenge Midnight, it will likely be piloted by ex-F1 and rallycross champion Scott Pace.

The Subaru WRX Challenge Midnight is the successor to the Airslayer Gymkhana automobile, which was based mostly on the 2020 WRX STI. Whereas the latter was designed to go sideways, Challenge Midnight is constructed for “pure tarmac velocity”.

The WRX Challenge Midnight has an ultra-wide physique with an enormous wing on the again. The carbon fibre physique and light-weight chassis make it 1,000 lbs lighter than the usual WRX. The suspension geometry is about up for the tarmac and the automobile rides on 18-inch OZ Racing magnesium wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan slick tires.

Underneath the bonnet of the WRX Challenge Midnight lies a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-4 engine tuned to provide 670 hp and 680 lb-ft and revs 9,500 rpm.
